Glorious crackles and splotches mug #2
This mug was thrown on the wheel, trimmed, handled and bisque fired. Glazed outside and inside with a greenish crackle glaze which produces blue spots surrounded by a darker brown halo. Amazing! High fired in a gas reduction kiln.
The clay is from South Australia and has reacted beautifully with the glaze, producing gorgeous spots and blotches where the iron has been drawn out of the clay body.
Handmade mugs are special... kind of magical really. So much time and energy goes into creating a mug by hand. Mine are full of good thoughts and best intentions as I nurse them along the path till they are ready to serve you.
